Welcome to the River City Eye new patient information page. Thank you for considering our clinic for your eye care needs! Please review the answers below before your upcoming visit. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to call our office at (210) 930-2015.

What services does River City Eye Associates offer?

As a medical office, we evaluate, treat and manage many clinical eye diseases and conditions, including cataracts. We invite you to view our Patient Education pages for more information on your specific eye condition and the cataract surgery options available at our facility.

What do I need to bring to my visit?

We will need the following items at your first visit (and at subsequent annual visits):

  • A photo ID, such as a driver’s license
  • Your current medical insurance card
  • All of your eye medications
  • A list of all prescription medications you are currently taking
  • Any glasses or contact lenses you wear regularly

The ophthalmologist needs to have a clear view of the back of the eye, so all new patients will be dilated. We recommend that you bring a comfortable pair of sunglasses. For more about what to expect, please visit our comprehensive eye exam page. For some patients, dilation makes it difficult to drive: if you are sensitive to dilation, we recommend bringing someone to drive you home after your exam.

What insurance does River City Eye Associates accept?

As a medical office, we do not take vision insurance; however, we take most medical insurances. Below is a list of some of our accepted plans. Please call to verify, since accepted insurance plans can change.

  • CCN Network

Where is River City Eye Associates located?

Our San Antonio clinic is at Oakwell Farms, conveniently located near Harry Wurzbach Road and Loop 410. The clinic is easily accessed from Oak Park–Northwood, Terrell Hills, Alamo Heights and Cibolo. We also have a clinic in Kenedy to serve Karnes County residents and the surrounding areas. For directions and more information, please visit our Locations page.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and closed on Friday. Appointments at both the San Antonio and Kenedy clinics are scheduled through the same number, (210) 930-2015.

What if I need a glasses prescription?

Most medical insurances (including Medicare) do not cover glasses prescriptions, unfortunately. As a courtesy, upon request, we can perform a refraction and provide you with a glasses prescription; however, there is a fee for this service. Please indicate that you need a refraction before your appointment so we have enough time to dedicate to your prescription needs.
